International School History is the work of Richard Jones-Nerzic, a Welsh history teacher based in Nyon Switzerland, teaching the Swiss Maturité Fédérale and the International Baccalaureate. I began this site in 2019 and this is my third teaching website. Each of previous websites contains an 'about' section which you can view if you are looking to check the authority of the content here (from 1999 and 2007).
I exist on other corners of the internet. I have had YouTube accounts since 2006 and my two current ones are International School History (generally edited clips useful for the history classroom) and International School History Teacher (short lessons produced by me). I am also on Vimeo and Daily Motion. Should you wish to know even more, I also exist passively on Twitter and more actively on LinkedIn. My books are on Amazon and Kognity. |
Since 2019
...I have been working at Ecole Moser, Nyon. My main responsibility has been the introduction of the IB as part of a double diploma programme in which students complete both the Swiss Maturité Fédérale and the International Baccalaureate gaining two sets of qualifications. The 13 subject Maturité is considered to be one of the most challenging pre-university courses in the world, so adding the progressive ethos of the IB on top is certainly an interesting challenge and unique in French speaking Switzerland. This may sound mad, but if all goes well, our first cohort will graduate in July 2024.
Otherwise I have been doing the usual things. This website has taken up much of my time and I've been developing my film making through a series of lessons on my latest YouTube channel (see below). I actually made the news in 2019 when YouTube shut down my account, accusing me of propagating hate speech. The Guardian took up my cause but YouTube still took me offline for nearly four years before restoring it without explanation.
More than 20 years ago I wrote about the novelty of being the first teacher in Europe to teach history in a laptop classroom and recently I revisited that in a webinar for Kognity and through a short film.

I have also become French (thanks Florence and Brexit) and my Breton shirt (La Marinière) collection has continued to grow.
On my first website I included pictures of our cats Molly and Jim who are sadly no longer with us. So here instead is a clip of Noisette who I hope will be with us until I retire. The views expressed on this website are mine and not necessarily endorsed by Ecole Moser but I am sure they probably are. Richard Jones-Nerzic - May 2023 |
